The right attitude counts | With the state subsidy for small and medium-sized enterprises, the Senate Department promotes the hiring of unemployed persons, so-called Aufstocker*innen and participants from employment or qualification measures.

Goals of the program

The aim of the state subsidy is to financially strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises in Berlin and to expand employment subject to social insurance contributions.

What the companies bring with them

In order to receive the state grant, the following conditions, among others, must be met:

  • The weekly working time is at least 35 hours.
  • The applicable statutory state minimum wage is paid.
  • The operating site is in Berlin.
  • There have been no terminations for operational reasons in the last six months.
  • Training companies must have taken on the trainees in the past six months.

In the case of permanent employment contracts, companies can receive a maximum subsidy of up to 15,000 euros, depending on the salary. However, temporary employment contracts (at least 12 months) are also supported. There is no obligation to re-employ.
